Funeral services for Arnol
C. Fjordbak, 88, of Benson were 10 a.m., Mon., Dec 29, 2009
at First Evangelical Free Church in Benson with Paster Reed Egerstrom
officiating.
Burial was in the Benson City Cemetery.
He died Friday, Dec. 26 at Golden Living Healthcare Center
in Benson.
Arnol Christian Fjordbak was born December 30, 1919, in
Storm Lake, Iowa, the son of Bernhard Otto and Emma (Hansen) Fjordbak. He
was baptized and confirmed in Truesdale, IA. He grew up in Storm Lake,
Iowa and completed the 12th grade in Truesdale.
June 7, 1941, Arnol was united in marriage to Cozette
Patricia Olson at South Sioux City, Nebraska. He served his country in the
United States Army during World War II, from September, 1942 to March,
1944. After he was discharged from the Army, they moved to Hendricks and
lived there for seven years.
They moved to Benson in 1951, and farmed in Six-Mile Grove
Township. Among the things he enjoyed was playing baseball, playing trumpet and
piano, and singing with his brothers.
Arnol is survived by his wife, Cozette of Benson; his
children: Marcia (Hank) Slocum of Dayton, Eloise (Jim) Cavers of
Alexandria, and Paul (Dee) Fjordbak of Belton, MO; seven grandchildren; 10
great-grandchildren; siblings: Norman (Betty) Fjordbak of New Prague, and Roger
(Ruth) Fjordbak of Benson; sisters-in-law: Annette Fjordbak of Dallas, TX,
Dorothy Bjerk of Benson, and Margaret Fjordbak of Sioux City, IA; and other
relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Ben and Emma;
brothers: Dale, Willard, and Everitt Fjordbak; and sister, Lorraine Lord.

Cozette Patricia (Olson) Fjordbak was born September 6, 1919 in Canby to Coney Olson and
Letha Tilghman Olson, and passed away on August 7, 2011.
She
grew up and graduated from high school in Hendricks. She attended Northwestern
Institute of Technology and became a lab and x-ray technician. While working in
Storm Lake, Iowa she met her husband, Arnol, and married on June 7, 1941 in
South Sioux City, Nebraska. After her husband was discharged from the Army,
they farmed in Hendricks, MN until 1951 and then moved to Benson to farm. In
February 2010, Cozette moved to Alexandria.
She
was preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister, Merry Lee; and her
husband, Arnol.
She
is survived by three children, Marcia (Harrison) Slocum, Ellie (James) Cavers,
and Paul (Dee) Fjordbak; 10 grandchildren, Colleen Slocum, Lee (Jaime) Slocum;
James (Shelley) Cavers, Sean (Jennifer) Cavers, Andrew (Leslie) Cavers, Kristin
(Caleb) Murray, and Stephanie (Matt) Burns; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A
funeral service was held Thursday, August 11 at Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in
Alexandria with the Rev. Andrea Olson officiating. Music was provided by
pianist, Matt Burns. Interment was at Benson City Cemetery in Benson. Casket
bearers were Steve Bakkum, Andrew Cavers, Sean Cavers, James Cavers, Matt Burns
and Caleb Murray.
